A grumpy x sunshine Regency Cinderella story

An unsuitable match for the viscount

And not just because she vexes him!

Bookworm Rose Lennox has no interest in making her debut. She’s only in London to discover the truth of her parentage. Her sponsor’s nephew, James, the Viscount Ashbourne, is equally cynical about the marriage mart, yet they still rile each other every time they speak! First Impression

Miss Rose and the Vexing Viscount is set in the 3rd person with the alternate viewpoints of Maria Lennox, Rose (Rosabella) Lennox and Viscount James Drummond.

The reader is introduced to the action straight away with a prologue by Maria in Scotland 1781. Terrified, Maria glances over her shoulder as she hurries as quickly as she can to the stagecoach she had been traveling in. She is being chased by her enemies, putting her unborn child in danger. She reaches the coach just in time, but looks back to see a woman, who thankfully doesn’t seem to recognise her…

I am looking forward to reading Miss Rose and the Vexing Viscount and can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Rating: 2.5 out of 4.

Miss Rose and the Vexing Viscount is a detailed fast paced story.

Tinley has looked at the society, customs and lifestyles of the ton. The writing style is easy to follow with a mixture of description and dialogue.

The character development of Miss Rose and the Vexing Viscount gives the reader a brief background about the characters. The characters are relatable and realistic with their own personalities and mannerisms.

After living at Belvedere school for young ladies for a total of 11 years, Rose joins her identical sisters, Isobel and Annabelle in the next stage of their lives, as they become debutantes. Rose is timid and bookish with a determined to find out answers about her origins…

James is a wealthy London Aristocrat. He became worried after learning that his aunt had invited 3 orphan sisters (triplets) to be launched into the society for the season, at her brother request. His elegant and peaceful life was going to be disturbed…

Rose and James share a slow burning chemistry. Although they do have the odd disagreement they are drawn to each other.

Overall I feel that Miss Rose and the Vexing Viscount has an interesting plot. I became hopeful that Rose would find out the identity of her mother and was happy when she did.

I would suggest reading Miss Rose and the Vexing Viscount to people who enjoy mills & boons/harlequin historicals and regency romance based on the Georgian era, as it is a character driven story about identity, love and family…
